Clarkston Woman Charged With Felony Battery on Lewiston Police Officer

LEWISTON, ID – A Clarkston woman has been charged with felony battery on a law enforcement officer following a disturbance call in downtown Lewiston on Friday night, according to court documents.

Crystal Teal, 40, was taken into custody on Nov. 21 after Lewiston Police responded to a report of suspicious behavior near 410 Main Street shortly after 10 p.m. Callers reported two individuals allegedly “barking” at pedestrians and following people in the area.

According to the affidavit, Teal and a male companion approached the responding officer when he arrived on scene. While the officer attempted to speak with the male, Teal allegedly came up behind him and struck his right shoulder. Court documents state she then raised her left arm in a fist and hit him a second time.

The officer reported that he informed Teal she was under arrest for battery on a law enforcement officer. When he attempted to detain both subjects, Teal allegedly pulled away, pushed him, and grabbed his jacket before being taken to the ground so she could be placed in handcuffs. According to court documents, Teal continued to resist and attempted to kick the officer and another responding officer while yelling profanities.

Body-camera footage, photographs and recorded statements were listed as evidence.

Police arrested Teal on a charge of Battery Upon Certain Personnel, a felony.  She was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail and expected to make her first court appearance on Monday afternoon.
