LEWISTON, ID – A 74-year-old Lewiston man died Monday evening after being struck by a pickup truck on 8th Street, according to the Lewiston Police Department.
Police and fire medics were dispatched around 5:24 p.m. on Nov. 24 to the 800 block of 8th Street for a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision. Responding units found that Laurence A. Casiato had been hit by a 2020 Ford F-150 traveling south on 8th Street. The pickup was driven by Mathew W. Harrison, 57, of Lewiston.
Casiato was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
An initial investigation determined that Casiato had been crossing 8th Street mid-block, outside of a crosswalk, when the collision occurred.
Police closed the 800 block of 8th Street until 8 p.m. while investigators processed the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lewiston Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Team at 208-746-0171.
