Former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul to Deliver Public Lecture at WSU on Dec. 3

PULLMAN, WA — Former U.S. ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul will speak at Washington State University on Wednesday, Dec. 3, as part of the Thomas S. Foley Institute’s series on the future of liberal democracy. The event begins at 4 p.m. in the Foley Institute Speaker’s Room and will also stream live on YouTube.

McFaul will discuss themes from his latest book, Autocrats vs. Democrats: China, Russia, America and the New Global Disorder. A reception and book signing will follow the lecture. McFaul, a longtime Stanford University scholar, is a leading voice on American foreign policy, great-power relations, and global democratic movements.

The Foley Institute, established in honor of former House Speaker and Spokane native Thomas S. Foley, continues to host programs aimed at fostering civic education and engagement. Media interviews with McFaul will be available prior to the event.
