LEWISTON, ID — Idaho Fish and Game has updated muzzleloader elk hunting regulations for the 2025 season in the Palouse and Dworshak zones, introducing new restrictions on harvest types and specific dates hunters need to be aware of.
According to the agency, Units 8 and 11A in the Palouse Zone will now be open only for the harvest of antlerless elk, and hunting must take place on or within one mile of private agricultural lands. That season runs from Dec. 2–14.
Unit 8A will follow a split structure:
- Dec. 2–5: spike or antlerless elk
- Dec. 6–14: spike elk only
In the Dworshak Zone, the muzzleloader season remains open for antlered elk from Dec. 2–14. Antlerless hunting in the zone is now limited exclusively to those who hold the appropriate controlled hunt tag.
IDFG reminds hunters they must carry a valid hunting license, an appropriate elk tag, and a muzzleloader permit to participate. Hunters with questions are encouraged to contact the Clearwater Region office at 208-799-5010.
