Lewiston to Host Free Winter Driving Safety Class on Dec. 13

LEWISTON, ID — The Idaho Transportation Department and Idaho State Police will host a free winter driving safety class in Lewiston on Saturday, Dec. 13, as agencies work to help residents prepare for colder weather and challenging road conditions.

The two-hour course will run from 10 a.m. to noon at the ITD District 2 Office at 2600 Frontage Road. Instructors include Idaho State Police troopers and ITD operators who routinely respond to crashes, slide-offs, and weather-related emergencies across North Idaho.

The class will cover essential topics such as preparing a vehicle for winter, recommended equipment, defensive driving techniques, and how to safely navigate around snowplows. According to the agencies, the training is open to all drivers but may be especially helpful for new drivers, teens, or residents experiencing their first Idaho winter.

Seating is limited, and participants must register online. Additional sessions may be added if demand is high.

More information is available on ITD’s travel page at itd.idaho.gov/travel.
