University of Idaho Encourages Community Support for Giving Tuesday on Dec. 2

MOSCOW, ID — The University of Idaho is encouraging members of the Vandal community to take part in Giving Tuesday on Dec. 2, highlighting the impact donor support has on students and campus programs.

According to a university release, Giving Tuesday — now a global philanthropic movement — invites individuals to support causes that matter to them. The university noted that since its founding in 1889, private contributions have helped shape leaders, drive innovation and strengthen communities across Idaho and the Northwest.

Vice Provost and Dean of Student Affairs Blaine Eckles said donor gifts directly assist students by helping fund the Vandal Food Pantry, emergency grants and scholarships.

“The generosity of the Vandal Family demonstrates that Vandals take care of one another,” Eckles said in the release.

Giving Tuesday began in 2012 as a social media campaign encouraging generosity following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Last year, the event generated an estimated $3.6 billion in donations to nonprofits across the United States.

Those wishing to support the University of Idaho during Giving Tuesday can donate at giving.uidaho.edu.
