BOISE, ID — Idaho Governor Brad Little has directed that U.S. and State of Idaho flags be lowered to half-staff on Sunday, December 7, in observance of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
December 7 of each year is designated as a day to honor the lives lost during the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. Flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.
“Most of us were not alive when the horrors of the attack on Pearl Harbor unfolded 83 years ago, but it is so important this generation and future generations take the time to honor the thousands of men and women who lost their lives in that unprovoked attack on American soil,” Governor Little said. “Idaho will also forever honor the brave service members who fought for our country and all of humanity during World War II in the years that followed the attack on Pearl Harbor.”
The governor’s office issued the directive Thursday morning as part of its statewide communications.
Residents and public agencies are encouraged to participate in the observance as a tribute to the Americans who served and sacrificed during World War II.
