LEWISTON, ID – Skylar Meade has pled guilty to two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of James Mauney of Juliaetta and Gerald Henderson of Orofino, according to a press release from the Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutor Justin Coleman announced that Meade entered the pleas on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Under the agreement, Meade will receive two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. The decision vacates the jury trial that had been scheduled for next year, and Meade has waived his right to appeal the conviction.
“This decision was made after careful consideration and after multiple conversations with law enforcement and, most importantly, the victims’ families,” Coleman said. “Through this agreement, Meade has admitted to the killings… Meade will spend the rest of his life locked up. The victims’ families and communities will be spared a difficult and prolonged trial and appeal process.”
The Clearwater County case, originally filed October 23, was joined with the Nez Perce County case the following day. Prosecutors from both counties worked collaboratively to reach the resolution.
Coleman also recognized the extensive work of numerous agencies across Idaho and beyond, offering special thanks to the Idaho State Police, Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, and law enforcement personnel from Ada and Twin Falls counties, as well as Clearwater County Prosecutor Clayne Tyler.
