Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Surpasses 1,000 Enrollments in Whitman County

PULLMAN, WA – United Way of Whitman County is celebrating a major milestone in early childhood literacy, with more than 1,000 children under age five now enrolled in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, receiving a free book delivered to their home each month.

The achievement marks the first time Whitman County has reached half of all age-eligible children, an ambitious goal set when the program launched in April 2022.

The expansion has been supported by volunteers and WSU student interns that staff enrollment booths at community events, parades, and gatherings across the county from Tekoa to Uniontown.

The program is funded through individual donations. An investment of $32 covers the cost of providing an Imagination Library book to a child each month for one year. Donations can be made through United Way of Whitman County.
