Fall From Weir Hot Springs Trail Leads to Drug-Related Arrest of Spokane Woman

GRANGEVILLE, ID — Emergency crews responded Saturday afternoon after a woman fell from the Weir Hot Springs Trail and into the river, an incident that ultimately led to a drug-related arrest, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.

Idaho County Dispatch received the call around 2:10 p.m. on December 6. Medical personnel and a responding deputy located the injured woman and arranged for treatment. While at the scene, the deputy reported seeing drugs in plain view inside the vehicle connected to the woman.

After she was medically cleared, 41-year-old Keyanna Dos Santos of Spokane, Washington, was taken into custody. She was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of cocaine, as well as misdemeanor charges including possession of psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and being under the influence of a controlled substance in a public place.

The sheriff’s office said the case reflects its ongoing efforts to respond to emergencies in remote recreation areas and address drug activity that may pose risks to the public. Officials noted that all charges remain allegations, and individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
