LEWISTON, ID — The LC Valley Resilience Coalition (LCVRC) is looking for volunteers to fill several board openings for 2026, according to a recent announcement.
The organization focuses on community education around Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the role Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) can play in improving long-term health outcomes. LCVRC integrates findings from the H.O.P.E. (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences) framework to demonstrate how resilience-building practices can help mitigate the effects of early trauma.
“LCVRC helps our communities learn about the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences on community members’ physical, mental, and emotional health, and how Positive Childhood Experiences can mitigate the impact,” said LCVRC President Ginny Foote. She noted that extensive research underscores the value of understanding both ACEs and PCEs.
Speakers and visitors frequently present at Coalition meetings, offering tools to help attendees become more trauma-informed and better equipped to foster resilience in various settings. Board members assist in delivering trauma-informed training, planning the group’s annual conference, and building community awareness around ACEs.
Board terms begin with a three-year commitment, with an option to renew for an additional term before a required one-year break. Meetings are held monthly on the third Thursday at Lewis-Clark State College, with occasional virtual meetings as needed.
Individuals interested in learning more about board service are invited to attend the Coalition’s next meeting at 5 p.m. on Dec. 18 in Room 102 of the Mechanical Technical Building on the LCSC campus.
More information and board applications are available at www.lcvrc.org or by contacting Chairperson Ginny Foote at 509-254-1043 or lcvrcinfo@lcvrc.org.
