Woman Killed, Man Injured After Tree Falls on Vehicle in Western Washington

KING COUNTY, WA – A 44-year-old woman died and one person was injured Friday afternoon when a tree fell onto a vehicle on State Route 203, northeast of Seattle, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred around 1:03 p.m. on Saturday. Police say, a tan 2014 Subaru Forester driven by 49-year-old man, was traveling southbound when a tree fell and struck the car, causing it to break apart on impact. the driver was injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center. The passenger, a 44-year-old woman from Duvall, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A northbound vehicle, a 2025 blue Chevrolet Silverado driven by 57-year-old man, struck debris from the fallen tree and came to rest blocking the northbound lane. Three passengers in the second vehicle, including two juveniles, were not injured.

The crash blocked the roadway for more than three hours. The Washington State Patrol said weather conditions were the cause of the collision. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Authorities have not released the name of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. No information on drugs or alcohol involvement has been confirmed.
