SANDPOINT, ID – Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred Monday at approximately 2:34 p.m. on U.S. Highway 95 at East Dufort Road, about 9 miles south of of Sandpoint.
According to investigators, a Dodge Dakota driven by a 60-year-old woman, with a 63-year-old male passenger, attempted to cross U.S. 95 and was struck by a northbound Dodge Ram pickup. The pickup was driven by a 65-year-old man who was wearing his seat belt.
Police reported that the occupants of the Dodge Dakota were not wearing seat belts. The Dakota’s driver died at the scene. The passenger of the Dakota and the driver of the pickup were transported to a local hospital for their injuries.
The roadway was blocked for approximately three hours. The Idaho State Police investigation is ongoing.
