STARBUCK, WA — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District will temporarily close the public crossing at Little Goose Lock and Dam from Dec. 15 through Dec. 18 to allow for scheduled maintenance, according to a district news release.
The closure applies to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and officials say it is necessary to protect both workers and the public as crews complete the maintenance work. Travelers who rely on the crossing are encouraged to plan alternate routes during the four-day suspension.
Under normal operations, the Little Goose Dam crossing opens once an hour on the half-hour between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and remains closed on federal holidays unless otherwise announced.
The Corps notes that public crossings remain available at Lower Granite Lock and Dam and Lower Monumental Lock and Dam for those needing to travel across the Snake River.
Additional information about dam crossing schedules is available through the Corps’ website or by calling 1-888-DAM-INFO (1-888-326-4636).
