Dworshak Dam Outlines Winter Recreation Closures Across Multiple Sites

AHSAHKA, ID — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District has announced several seasonal closures at Dworshak Dam recreation sites as winter conditions settle into the region.

According to the announcement, Dent Acres Recreation Area and its boat ramp will close from Dec. 10, 2025, through March 17, 2026, weather permitting. The lower Dent Acres boat ramp restroom will also be shut down for winter maintenance during this period.

Additional closures begin Dec. 1, 2025, affecting several popular locations. Dam View Campground, Canyon Creek Campground, and Merry’s Bay Day Use Area will all remain closed until April 1, 2026.

While many areas will be inaccessible over the winter months, the Corps notes that Big Eddy, Bruce’s Eddy, and Freeman Creek boat ramps will stay open.

Looking ahead to spring, Dent Campground and the Dent Group Camping Area are scheduled to reopen April 12, 2026. Visitors will need reservations, which can be made through Recreation.gov online, via the mobile app, or by calling 877-444-6777.

For updates on conditions and facility access, the Corps encourages the public to contact the Dworshak Visitor Center at 208-476-1255 during weekday business hours or visit the Dworshak Dam Facebook page.
