GRANGEVILLE, ID — Idaho County deputies arrested a 41-year-old Grangeville man on multiple drug-related charges following a field training operation at a local gas station Monday afternoon.
According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were at the Nom Nom gas station in Grangeville around 1:45 p.m. on December 9 when they observed a driver acting suspiciously after noticing a marked patrol vehicle. Deputies reported the man looked repeatedly over his shoulder and attempted to cover items on the passenger seat with a blanket.
Grangeville Police Officer Logan Pittman contacted the driver, identified as Christopher J. Johnson. Idaho County K9 Ripley conducted an open-air sniff and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Authorities say additional contraband was located during the booking process at the Idaho County Jail, where deputies reportedly found marijuana concentrate and a methamphetamine pipe concealed in Johnson’s clothing.
Johnson was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine, felony introducing contraband into a correctional facility, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
The sheriff’s office stated that the arrest reflects ongoing efforts to train deputies to recognize suspicious behavior and address drug possession affecting community safety.
All charges remain allegations, and Johnson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Case information and updates are available through the Idaho Supreme Court’s online portal.
