PULLMAN, WA — Pullman Regional Hospital has recognized Registered Nurse Kinsey Dewan with the DAISY Award, an international honor celebrating nurses who demonstrate exceptional compassion and clinical excellence.
Dewan, who works in the hospital’s BirthPlace unit, first joined Pullman Regional in 2020 as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Inspired by her sister, an occupational therapist, she found her calling after a job-shadow experience in maternity care. Five years later, she remains dedicated to supporting families through labor, delivery, and newborn care.
Her nomination came from a patient who praised Dewan for her support during the birth of her second child. The patient described Dewan as “confident,” “knowledgeable,” and “so compassionate,” noting that her calm presence helped steady the family when the newborn experienced breathing complications.
“I am so thankful for the care that I, my husband, and baby boy received from Kinsey during our stay,” the patient wrote. “I can’t thank her enough for being there for us during the tears, scary times, and then the happy moments.”
Dewan credited the BirthPlace team for creating an environment focused on collaborative, patient-centered care. “We have such a broad range of skills—every day is a different day, and I love that I get to be part of a patient’s experience through every phase of care,” she said.
She also thanked nurse mentors Sarah Garibaldo, Hannah Hartz, and Izzie Roepke, and expressed appreciation for the hospital’s support as she advanced from a CNA to a Registered Nurse.
The DAISY Award program honors nurses worldwide for outstanding clinical skill and compassionate care. Pullman Regional invites community members to nominate nurses for future recognition through its website.
