MOSCOW, ID — The University of Idaho’s Department of Theatre Arts will showcase student talent next week with its annual Short Play Festival, a three-night event featuring 15 student-directed, student-designed and student-performed productions. The festival runs Tuesday through Thursday, Dec. 16–18, at 7 p.m. each night at the Forge Theater in Moscow.
The festival includes a mix of 10-minute and one-act plays, blending well-known works — including pieces by Anton Chekhov — with original student-written productions. Each night’s lineup runs approximately 90 minutes.
Craig A. Miller, head of directing and associate professor of acting and directing, said the festival serves as a key academic milestone for Theatre Arts students.
“The festival offers a remarkable platform for our students to demonstrate the breadth of their artistic and technical abilities after a semester of intensive study,” Miller said. “As the only production in our annual season that is entirely student-produced, it stands as a testament to their commitment, creativity and collaborative spirit.”
Tickets are $5 for general admission and free for U of I students. They are available at uitickets.com or at the door. More information on future Theatre Arts events can be found at go.uidaho.edu/theatre-
