Warrior Women Produce Standout Performances in Spokane

SPOKANE, WA – LC State Women’s Track and Field opened the 2025-26 season with a pair of record books entries and multiple personal bests on Saturday at the Spokane Invitational. Senior Faith Wersland had a big PR in the weight throw, while freshmen Claire Dooley and Emery Molina hand standout performances in their collegiate debut.

“A bit of a rust buster, generally speaking, but from a coach’s perspective an opportunity to see where we are at, gauge some strengths and weaknesses and make adjustments to our training where it seems appropriate,” Collins saidd. “Tough to compete at this time as I know all of these kids have come off a tough week of finals that are very draining, but they really stepped up.”

“Things look very bright right now and I know everyone is looking forward to some needed rest and time home, but at the same time, the energy to compete is high and we will take advantage of that for as long as we can,” Collins added.

TRACK

Dooley impressed in her first collegiate race and etched her name in Warrior history with the fifth-fastest 60m dash in the record book. She ran a time of 8.08 to place 25th overall. Fellow freshmen Olivia Yetter (8.92) and Molina (8.99) finished 37th and 39th, respectively. Dooley was also in action in the 200m where she placed 16th (26.77) with Yetter in 25th (30.08).

Senior Camille Ussher had a busy day as the lone Warrior in the 800m and mile. She ran a PR in the 800m (2:21.06) to finish second and was sixth in the mile (5:19.14).

Emily Collins earned a top-five finish in the 600m with a time of 1:37.95 to place fourth. Fellow senior Grace Tiegs ran a personal-best time of 11:03.88 to place 14th in the 3,000m.
