PAUL, ID — Idaho State Police continue to investigate a crash involving two school buses that temporarily closed State Highway 25 near Paul earlier this week.
The crash occurred on the morning of December 15 on westbound State Highway 25 near milepost 43. According to Idaho State Police, preliminary information indicates the second bus rear-ended the first bus while traffic was slowing. Troopers have collected video from both buses as part of the ongoing investigation.
There were 19 occupants between the two buses, including two drivers and 17 students. Both bus drivers were transported by air ambulance for medical treatment. Five students were also transported for medical attention. Authorities said all injured occupants are reported to be in stable condition or have since been released from the hospital. No further medical updates will be provided.
During the initial response, Idaho State Police confirmed that one juvenile student was flown by air ambulance to a hospital in Utah for treatment. Due to the age of those involved and ongoing medical care, ISP said it will not release specific information regarding juvenile injuries.
The crash was first reported just before 6:15 a.m., with highway closures in both directions while emergency crews responded. State Highway 25 has since reopened to regular traffic.
The investigation remains active and is expected to be forwarded to the Minidoka County Prosecutor’s Office for review of any potential charges.
