SPOKANE, WA — A man wanted in connection with multiple alleged sexual offenses in Spokane was arrested in Connecticut earlier this month after investigators determined he had fled the area, according to a press release from the Spokane Police Department.
Police said the department’s Special Victims Unit began investigating allegations of rape in July 2025 involving a man who was romantically involved with an adult woman living in Spokane. According to investigators, video evidence was obtained during the investigation that allegedly corroborated the adult victim’s claims.
Investigators also reported obtaining additional video evidence that allegedly showed the same suspect exposing himself to a juvenile female who lived in the same residence as the adult victim.
On December 11, a warrant was issued for the arrest of 42-year-old Ryan M. Cheek. According to police, Cheek faces eight charges, including two counts of second-degree rape related to the adult victim, as well as charges of first-degree child molestation and indecent exposure involving the juvenile victim.
Police said investigators learned Cheek had left the Spokane area after becoming aware of the investigation and had likely returned to his home state of Connecticut. The Spokane Police Department partnered with the U.S. Marshals Service to locate and apprehend him.
On December 16, the U.S. Marshals Service coordinated with local authorities in Connecticut and took Cheek into custody. Police credited the interagency effort with leading to his arrest.
Spokane Police said Special Victims Unit detectives are expected to travel to Connecticut in the coming weeks to assist with Cheek’s extradition back to Washington state, where he is expected to face the charges.
All charges are allegations. Individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
