Structure fire in Harrison displaces three, one hospitalized

HARRISON, ID — Crews with St. Maries Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in Harrison on the evening of December 22, according to a press release from the district.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames visible from the rear second floor of a residence and immediately began fire suppression efforts. The fire was contained to the second floor, and crews remained on scene for approximately 24 hours to ensure all hot spots were fully extinguished.

Three occupants were displaced as a result of the fire, and one individual was transported to a hospital. No additional information on the person’s condition was released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

St. Maries Fire Protection District thanked several mutual aid partners for their assistance, including East Side Fire District, Harrison Ambulance, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, City of Harrison Public Works, and Avista Utilities.
