BOISE, ID— Idaho drivers are seeing continued relief at the pump as gas prices across the state drop to their lowest levels in months, according to a new report from AAA Idaho.
As of December 29, the statewide average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.84. That is five cents lower than a week ago, nearly 40 cents cheaper than a month ago, and 24 cents less than this time last year. The Idaho average now sits just two cents above the national average of $2.82 per gallon.
AAA Idaho reports the state has dropped to 18th in the nation for most expensive fuel, a notable shift from its typical placement among the top ten.
AAA Idaho Public Affairs Director Matthew Conde said regional supply trends are contributing to the decline, particularly as Utah — a major supplier of Idaho’s finished gasoline — currently ranks 31st nationwide for fuel prices. Conde cautioned that geopolitical tensions and crude oil market uncertainty could still affect prices, but noted that lower seasonal demand is helping ease pressure for now.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil is trading near $58 per barrel, about $2 lower than a month ago, according to the report.

- Franklin: $2.66
- Idaho Falls: $2.83
- Lewiston: $2.75
