Three Killed, One Injured in Christmas Day Crash West of Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, WA – Washington State Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Christmas Day on State Route 12, about 22 miles west of Walla Walla.

The collision was reported at approximately 5:18 p.m. at milepost 313. According to WSP, a westbound vehicle on Highway 12 struck a guardrail, overcorrected, and crossed into the eastbound lanes, where it collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Three people in the eastbound vehicle were killed. The driver, a 34-year-old man from Moses Lake, died at the scene. A passenger, a 27-year-old female from Moses Lake, also died at the scene. A 6-month-old male passenger from Moses Lake was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center, where he later died. The infant was wearing a seatbelt, while the adult occupants were not.

The driver of the westbound vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Brandon T. McGary of Benton City, was injured and transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Charges are pending, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

Washington State Patrol reported that two vehicles were involved in the crash: a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup and a 2005 Mercury Mariner. Both vehicles were totaled.
