Man Arrested in Connection With Clarkston Vehicle Theft

CLARKSTON, WA – Desmond E. Beck, 32, was arrested Tuesday on charges related to the theft of a motor vehicle and trafficking in stolen property in the first degree, according to court records filed in Asotin County Superior Court. Beck was booked into the Asotin County Jail Tuesday afternoon.

The charges stem from an incident on January 14, 2025, involving a stolen 1994 Dodge Ram 1500. Police reports indicate that Beck and another man were found in the vehicle without the owner’s permission. Beck allegedly took the vehicle with the alleged intent to sell it in Spokane.

According to the Clarkston Police Department, another man reportedly acted as a lookout while Beck “hotwired” and drove the truck. The pair were later stopped and arrested by the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office. During interviews, Beck allegedly admitted the truck was stolen.  He was also wanted on warrants related to previous charges of third degree theft and possession of a controlled substance.

Beck is expected to make his initial court appearance on Wednesday.
