Update from Wednesday’s first appearance:
Robins was ordered held on a $200,000 bond or $20,000 cash bail by Whitman County Superior Court Judge Roger Sandberg, matching the amount requested by the prosecutor’s office. Prosecutors also clarified Robins’ criminal history, stating he was convicted in Louisiana in 2002 of aggravated assault with a firearm under a different alias.
His other assault conviction stems from a 2019 misdemeanor guilty plea in Moscow, for which he was sentenced to four days in jail. Court records further show Robins had a military authority fugitive arrest warrant issued in California in 1997. Robins is scheduled to return to court Monday afternoon for a review hearing. Public Defender Steve Martonick was appointed to represent him.
PULLMAN, WA – A 51-year-old Pullman man who works as a custodian at Jefferson and Sunnyside elementary schools has been arrested for allegedly raping and molesting a child.
Eric Robins was arrested by Pullman Police on Tuesday afternoon on felony charges of first-degree child rape and first-degree child molestation. According to court documents, the case began earlier this month when detectives received a report that Robins had sexually assaulted a young girl. The filing states the report did not come from anyone associated with the schools, and the alleged victim is not connected to Robins through his employment.
The alleged victim was interviewed by a forensic child interviewer. Statements from that interview led Pullman Police to take Robins into custody. Court documents show Robins is employed as a custodian for the Pullman School District at Jefferson and Sunnyside elementary schools.
The filing from Pullman Police requests that Robins be held on an extraordinary bond. Officers note his criminal history includes arrests for aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a firearm, and a military authority fugitive arrest warrant.
Robins is scheduled to make his first appearance at 1 p.m. this afternoon in Whitman County Superior Court. He is being held at the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Colfax.
