RIGGINS, ID — An accident reported along U.S. Highway 95 south of Riggins on Monday night led to multiple charges against a Pollock man, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched around 7:40 p.m. on Dec. 30 after Idaho County Dispatch received a report of a crash near milepost 192. According to the sheriff’s office, the driver was reportedly intoxicated, physically attacked several people at the scene, and then fled north toward Riggins.
Idaho County deputies responded to the area and contacted those involved as part of the investigation. Authorities later arrested 38-year-old Benjamin Brault of Pollock.
Brault was booked on a felony charge of aggravated battery and cited for multiple misdemeanors, including possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, leaving the scene of an accident, battery, driving under the influence, and disturbing the peace.
The sheriff’s office noted the charges are allegations at the time of arrest. All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
