WHITE BIRD, ID — Two people were arrested on drug-related charges during a New Year’s Eve Office of Highway Safety emphasis patrol in Idaho County, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrests occurred around 8:40 p.m. on December 31, 2025, after an Idaho County deputy contacted the occupants of a vehicle parked at the Blackhawk Bar recreational area along U.S. Highway 95, south of White Bird. During the contact, the deputy reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, prompting a search that led to the discovery of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
David Leachman, 59, of Troy, Idaho, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia and misdemeanor driving without privileges. Paige Kelly, 23, of Huntington, West Virginia, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
All charges are allegations, and both individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
