Lewiston Woman Faces Two Felony Charges After Alleged Altercation With Police

LEWISTON, ID – A Lewiston woman is facing two felony charges following an alleged physical confrontation with law enforcement during a January 3 incident, court records show.

Court documents show 40-year-old Amanda J. King was arrested without a warrant and charged with two counts of battery upon certain personnel.

According to an affidavit, officers responded to a reported citizen dispute shortly before 2 p.m. The complainant told police King was yelling, causing a disturbance, and became physically involved.

Officers later located King inside a vehicle and instructed her to exit, the affidavit states. Police allege she refused repeated commands, attempted to close a vehicle door on an officer, and resisted efforts to remove her from the car.

Court records allege King grabbed an officer, dug her fingernails into the officer’s wrist, and continued resisting while officers attempted to restrain her. An officer reported multiple scratch marks and bleeding.

Police say King continued resisting after being removed from the vehicle and taken to the ground before being placed in handcuffs. Medics evaluated King at the scene, and she was later transported to jail.

In addition to the felony charges, King was cited for disturbing the peace and resisting or obstructing officers, both misdemeanors, according to court records.

King was expected to make her initial court appearance on Monday afternoon.
