LEWISTON, ID — Two new exhibitions are opening this month at Lewis-Clark State College’s Center for Arts & History, with a public reception scheduled for Friday, Jan. 9.
The free opening reception will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Center and will mark the debut of Primal Forces: Fire and The Symposium.
Primal Forces: Fire, curated by Studio Art Quilt Associates, is the final installment in the Primal Forces series, following earlier exhibitions focused on earth and wind. The exhibition features contemporary quilt works that explore the theme of fire through color, pattern, and technique.
The second exhibition, The Symposium, showcases hand-crafted wooden vessels by Connor Kelly. The collection draws inspiration from ancient Greek social gatherings and pottery forms, reinterpreted through sculptural works made from sustainably sourced regional wood. Each piece is carved from a single block, with integrated handles formed from the vessel itself.
Both exhibitions will be on display at the Center through March 28.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information is available through the college’s Center for Arts & History.
