LEWISTON, ID — The Port of Lewiston is seeking public input as it prepares a grant application for a proposed public recreational boat dock at the Confluence Riverfront.
According to the Port, the dock would be located near the existing cruise boat dock along the Clearwater and Snake rivers and is intended to provide local boaters with a secure place to moor while improving river access for recreation and tourism. The project is being considered for funding through the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation Waterways Improvement Fund. If the grant is awarded, the Port would provide matching funds in partnership with American Cruise Lines.
Port officials say the dock would serve multiple purposes, including accommodating local recreational boaters, visitors arriving on cruise vessels, and participants in Hells Canyon jet boat tours. As part of the planning process, the Port is asking river users to share how a public dock could enhance their boating, fishing, or paddling activities and what features they believe should be included.
