LEWISTON, ID – According to a press release from the city’s Public Works Department, the public comment period opened January 6 and will run through February 6, 2026. The Transportation Capital Improvement Plan, updated annually, is used to prioritize major transportation projects across the city, including roadway reconstruction, pavement overlays, sidewalk infill, and traffic signal upgrades.
City officials said the 2026 draft plan reflects progress made since the previous plan was adopted in March 2025, along with scope changes, updated data, and feedback received during a public Call for Requests held between November and November 2025.
Residents are encouraged to review the proposed project rankings, scopes, and inclusions and submit comments during the open comment period. The draft plan, update summary, and comment form are available on the city’s website, and paper copies can also be reviewed at Lewiston City Hall and the Public Works Department.
An open house is scheduled for January 13, 2026, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Lewiston City Library. City staff will be available to answer questions and collect public feedback on the draft plan.
After the comment period closes, staff will review submissions and finalize the plan. A public hearing is currently scheduled for February 23, 2026, when the Lewiston City Council is expected to accept public comment on the 2026 Transportation Capital Improvement Plan.
