PULLMAN, WA — Washington State University has appointed Molly Schotzko as its new faculty athletics representative, according to an announcement from the university. Schotzko, an assistant professor in the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, began a three-year term on Jan. 1 following a national search.
In the role, Schotzko serves as a liaison between WSU’s academic leadership and its intercollegiate athletics programs, helping ensure academic standards, integrity, student-athlete welfare, and compliance with NCAA and conference regulations. A former WSU student-athlete, Schotzko earned four varsity letters in track and field and cross country and previously served as president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
Schotzko succeeds Nancy Swanger, who held the position for nearly a decade. University officials said Schotzko brings experience as both a faculty member and former student-athlete to the position .
