Southern Idaho police seize 51 firearms, including stolen weapons from multiple states

BOISE, ID — Boise Police Department officers seized 51 firearms and arrested a man during a January investigation that authorities say involved stolen weapons and illegal possession.

Police said officers responded Jan. 12, 2026, to a residence in the 1200 block of Hartman Street while investigating information that a suspect inside the home was a convicted felon and unlawfully in possession of firearms. After obtaining a search warrant, officers searched the home and recovered 51 firearms.

The suspect, identified as Anthony Buhler, was taken into custody and booked into the Ada County Jail on weapons-related charges.

Further investigation determined that several of the recovered firearms were missing serial numbers. Police also confirmed that 10 of the firearms had been reported stolen from residences and storage units in Idaho and Washington.

Authorities said the investigation remains active and additional charges may be filed.

In a broader public-safety reminder, police noted firearm theft continues to be an issue nationwide. Boise police reported 55 firearms were stolen in 2025 from residences and both locked and unlocked vehicles, down from 92 reported stolen in 2024.

Law enforcement officials continue to encourage firearm owners to secure weapons, avoid leaving firearms unattended in vehicles, and document serial numbers and photographs to assist in recovery if theft occurs.
