KAMIAH, ID – Kamiah Fire-Rescue responded Thursday night to a vehicle that went off Highway 64 in heavy fog, narrowly avoiding driving over a cliff.
According to Kamiah Fire-Rescue Chief Billy Monahan, crews were dispatched at approximately 8 p.m. to the incident, which involved a driver who left the roadway and ended up at the edge of a 900-foot cliff. A Lewis County Sheriff’s deputy assisted at the scene and was able to safely remove the driver after emergency responders stabilized the vehicle.
The driver was not injured, Monahan said.
Fire-Rescue vehicles responding to the scene were forced to slow to less than 5 miles per hour due to the heavy fog conditions.
