COLFAX, WA – The 51-year-old Pullman man accused of sexually assaulting a child has pleaded not guilty.
Eric Robins is charged with three counts of child rape, one count of child molestation and three felonies related to possessing child sex abuse material. Robins pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Friday in Whitman County Superior Court. He is currently scheduled to stand trial in February.
Robins was arrested by Pullman Police last month for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl. Video evidence recently discovered by Pullman Detectives led prosecutors to file five more felonies against Robins. If convicted he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Robins has worked as a janitor for the Pullman School District since early 2022. His criminal history includes a 2002 felony conviction under an alias in Louisiana for aggravated assault with a firearm. Pullman Schools Superintendent Dr. Bob Maxwell says Robins passed his background check to work for the district. He worked as a janitor at Jefferson and Sunnyside Elementary Schools. This case doesn’t involve Pullman Schools, students or district operations.
Robins has been placed on leave by the school district. He remains in the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Colfax on 750,000 dollars bond.
