LEWISTON, Idaho – No. 24 LC State Men’s Tennis put up a fight in its season opener against NCAA Division I North Dakota in the LC State Tennis Center on Saturday. The Warriors fell 6-1 to UND, but each match was closely contested.
North Dakota narrowly escaped with the doubles point after a 6-3 win by Cesar Coloma and Louam Boivin in No. 3 doubles. The Warriors pushed No. 2 doubles, contested by Nell Rollin and Rafael Bonnet de Larbogne, to a tiebreaker before being edged by the Fighting Hawks 7-6 (7-2).
Leonel Gatti picked up the lone point for the Warriors with a 2-6, 6-2, 10-2 win in No. 6 singles in his LC State debut.
Bonnet de Larbogne fought a close battle in No. 3 singles but fell 6-4, 6-4, and Rollin was edged 6-3, 6-3 in the fifth slot.
