Sheriff Brett Myers Announces Intent to Seek Re-Election

PULLMAN, WA – After more than two decades of dedicated service, Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers today announced his intention to seek re-election for a seventh four-year term as Sheriff.

Since assuming the elected office in 2003, Sheriff Myers has proudly served Whitman County for 23 years. Throughout his tenure, he has made community and intelligence-based policing his top priority, working tirelessly to keep Whitman County a safe and exceptional place to live.

“My number one rule has always been to treat everyone like gold,” Myers said. “When we treat others the way we would our own friends and family, with respect and dignity, we consistently achieve better outcomes. When you set high expectations for treating people right across the board, most other things naturally fall into place.”

Under Myers leadership, the Sheriff’s Office has delivered proactive policing, consistently solved crimes, and held offenders accountable, while maintaining exceptional customer service and making the Golden Rule the foundation of every public interaction.

A key strength of the office is its deep roots in the community. Most employees at the Sheriff’s Office either have long ties to Whitman County or, like Sheriff Myers himself, were raised here on the Palouse. “This commitment is in our blood,” Myers emphasized. “It drives us to serve with genuine care and understanding of the people and places we protect.”

With his extensive experience and the strong dedicated team currently serving in the jail and on patrol, Sheriff Myers is confident the office can continue building on the positive culture of service established over the past 23 years.

“I hope to have the privilege of leading the Whitman County Sheriff's Office for another four years,” Myers added. “Together, we will keep moving forward to serve and protect our community.”
