Second Nonresident Deer, Elk Drawing Opens Feb. 5 in Idaho

BOISE, ID – Nonresident hunters who did not draw tags in Idaho’s first general season deer and elk drawing will have another opportunity later this month, according to Idaho Fish and Game.

IDFG announced that the second nonresident drawing for remaining general season deer and elk tags will run from February 5 through February 15. Hunters who were successful in the January drawing are not eligible to apply again for the same species in the second draw.

Officials said there are no leftover tags available for Disabled American Veterans at this time, as those hunters have until March 20 to purchase tags from the first drawing. Applicants must hold a valid 2026 Idaho hunting license for big game, and license fees are nonrefundable if a hunter is unsuccessful.

Nonresident hunters may submit up to two applications—one for deer and one for elk—if they were unsuccessful in the first drawing. Each application may include up to five hunt choices, and group applications of up to four hunters are allowed, with all group members receiving a tag if one is drawn.

Applications can be submitted online through GoOutdoorsIdaho.com, by phone at (800) 554-8685, at Idaho Fish and Game offices, or through licensed vendors.
