ASOTIN COUNTY, WA — Blake Richards, currently serving as Undersheriff of the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office, has announced his candidacy for Asotin County Sheriff, citing a commitment to experienced leadership, public safety, and accountability to the community.
Richards says he brings 16 years of law enforcement experience and more than 23 years in public safety, including leadership roles in law enforcement, fire service, emergency medical services, air medical operations, and public-safety education. In his role as Undersheriff, he oversees daily operations, personnel, and complex administrative responsibilities within the Sheriff’s Office.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Richards has served as a firefighter-paramedic, the local Lewiston Life Flight base manager, and a paramedic program director.
“I’ve spent my career in public service—leading teams, responding to emergencies, and making decisions where accountability truly matters,” Richards said. “The role of Sheriff requires experience, steady leadership, and a deep understanding of what it means to serve the public with integrity.”
Richards has lived in Asotin County since 2011 and currently resides in Asotin with his wife, Jeni, a small-business owner in Clarkston, and their daughter.
“This isn’t just where I work—it’s where my family lives and where we plan to stay,” he said. “Asotin County is our forever home. Protecting this community isn’t political to me—it’s personal. As sheriff, my goal is simple: maintain professional and constitutional police practices, support deputies, corrections staff, and civilian employees, and ensure transparency and accountability to the people of Asotin County.”
Richards says he plans to continue meeting with community members, civic groups, and local stakeholders throughout his campaign. More information on his background and priorities is available at BlakeRichardsForSheriff.com or on Facebook at “Blake Richards for Asotin County Sheriff.”
