LC State Dance Places Fifth at Northwestern to Open 2026

ORANGE CITY, IA – LC State Dance left it all out on the floor in its first competition of the 2026 season. The Warriors placed fifth overall at Northwestern’s NAIA Dance competition with 73.79 points.

LC State scored well, even after having to make changes to the routine and lineup shortly before the trip.

“Despite having to make last-minute changes and additions, this team really pulled it off,” coach Sydnee Vial said. “They hit their skills, and that is what we asked of them for this first competition.”

The Warriors excelled in the Pom and Jazz portions of the routine, but scored lower in the Hip Hop category.

Morningside (Iowa) won the competition and Hope International (Calif.), who the Warriors face in a duel on Friday, finished second. Host school Northwestern (Iowa) edged LC State to place fourth with 74.33 points.

The team will take the lessons learned from the first competition of the year into two more performances on Friday.
