COLFAX, WA – The man accused of killing 28-year-old Darcy Spracklin of Pullman in December of 2024 on College Hill has pleaded guilty.
31-year old-Jorge Amezcua of Pullman pleaded guilty as charged to 2nd degree murder Friday in Whitman County Superior Court. Prosecutors dropped a methamphetamine possession count in return for the plea.
Amezcua shot and killed Spracklin inside an abandoned fraternity house on Washington State University’s Greek Row. The men were smoking meth when Amezcua committed the murder. Deputy Prosecutor Lindsi Alcantar told Judge Roger Sandberg that Amezcua never had an explanation for the killing. Alcantar is recommending that Amezcua be sentenced to the bottom of the standard range in this case. The range set by Washington state law is between just over a decade in prison and up to more than 18 years in prison. Alcantar noted that Amezcua has no previous criminal history and Spracklin’s father supports the low end sentence recommendatoin.
Judge Sandberg delayed sentencing on Friday saying that he wants more time to consider Amezcua’s fate.
The prosecution and the defense agreed that a pre-sentence investigation wasn’t need in this case. Judge Sandberg went against those recommendations and ordered that an investigation be completed prior to sentencing Amezcua which is reset for February 27th. This murder was investigated by the Pullman Police Department.
