LC State Women’s Track and Field Competes in Moscow

MOSCOW, ID – Madigan Kelly repeated her national standard and Hope Zollman had the best day of her career in the shot put to highlight a small meet on Friday in Moscow.

“Generally, a pretty good day. A low-key meet and we greatly appreciate Idaho hosting the meet for us to be able to come up, be able to take it easy and focus on some things that we need to work on,” coach Mike Collins said. “Lots of PRs in the throws again today, so that’s really encouraging as well. Our real focus all year has been on these last two meets as the competition should be really good, and then, hopefully, as we come into true form, both meets should be putting us in a position to hit national standards that we haven’t already hit for those that are at that level and ready to go.”

Haylee Appleford led the Warrior women in shot put with a fifth-place finish (11.67m), and Zollman joined her in the LC State top five with a throw of 11.63m for fourth all-time. Zollman finished sixth and Faith Wersland was seventh (10.11m). Wersland led LC State with a PR in the weight throw to finish fifth (14.00m). Appleford was seventh (13.73m), Grace Osborne placed eighth (13.66m), Zollman was ninth (12.59m) and Shayvon Williams finished 10th (12.13m).

Kelly was consistent with another 8.76 time in the 60m hurdles to win the event. She went on to finish seventh in the final of the 60m dash with a time of 7.94. Clarie Dooley moved up to fourth in the record book with a time of 8.04 to place ninth and Olivia Yetter was 10th (9.00) in the 60m dash and third in the hurdles (10.84).
