MOSCOW, ID – The Men’s 4x400m relay team earned their spot at the national meet with a stellar run in Moscow on Friday. The team of Harry Lazenby, Jordan Castillo, Preston Cooper and Trenton Johnson are the first Warrior relay to hit a standard this season, and did so with a time that landed at No. 2 in the record book.

“Generally, a pretty good day. A low-key meet and we greatly appreciate Idaho hosting the meet for us to be able to come up and focus on some things that we need to work on,” coach Mike Collins said. “Probably a big highlight of the day was our men’s 4x400m relay hitting the national standard. Nice thing about that is, we ran well, but I really don’t think we looked that good, so we’ve got lots of room to improve there. Lots of PRs in the throws again today, so that’s really encouraging as well. Our real focus all year has been on these last two meets as the competition should be really good, and then, hopefully, as we come into true form, both meets should be putting us in a position to hit national standards that we haven’t already hit for those that are at that level and ready to go.”

Lazenby, Castillo, Cooper and Johnson ran a time of 3:17.45 which is the second-fastest ever by a Warrior team. The time ranks 14^th in the NAIA this season and is good for a B standard.

Freshman Isahi Salinas continued to improve in the high jump and made his mark in the record book. He tied the fifth-best mark by a Warrior at 1.88m to finish second at the meet.

Johnson was the top LC State athlete in the long jump where he cleared a distance of 6.86m. Bryan Kinene improved his hold on the fourth-best mark in program history at 6.62m to finish ninth, Perry Severijnse was 10^th (6.43m), Camden Koerner was 12^th (6.38m) and Max Funk was 13^th (6.01m). Kinene finished third in the triple jump (13.32m) and Collin Wimer was fourth (13.22m).

Cooper led a group of Warriors in the 60m dash with a time of 6.98 in the prelim and the final to place fourth overall. Castillo clocked a time of 7.05 in the prelim before a time of 7.12 to finish sixth. Noah Carpenter tied the fourth-best time in program history in the event (7.06) to place ninth, and Koerner also ran a PR of 7.11 to place 12^th. Wimer (7.18), Aidan Grenier (7.21), Michael Colvin (7.22), Luke Siler (7.25), Lazenby (7.30), Severijnse (7.36) and Salinas (7.41) finished 13^th-19^th, respectively.

Carpenter went on to place second in the 200m (22.62) and Colvin was third (23.77). Siler was second in the 400m (52.32).

Kobe Wessels led the team in the mile where he won with a time of 4:21.41. Sven Druijff was second (4:25.04) and Tristin O’Brien was third with a PR of 4:26.78. Senior Ben Vernon ran a career-best time of 9:11.75 to place 10^th in the 3,000m.

Reid Thomas led the men in the throwing events. He was sixth in the shot put (14.47m) and eighth in the weight throw (15.56m). Zane Hearne was eighth in the shot put (12.95m) and 15^th in the weight throw (11.24m), Micah Fox was ninth in the shot put (11.66m) and 16^th in the weight throw (10.86m) and Alex Lambson was 10^th in the shot put (10.83m) and 13^th in the weight throw (13.49m). Cameron Carrara palced11th in the shot put (10.24m). Brandon Decker cleared a height of 4.05m to win the pole vault.
