GLENDALE, AZ – No. 25 LC State Men’s Tennis picked up its first NAIA victory of the season on Friday with a 6-1 win over Ottawa (Ariz.) in Glendale.
The victory has the record at 3-3 on the season.
The Warriors swept through doubles play to take an early lead. Nell Rollin and Pablo Herrera blanked their opponents 6-0 in No. 1 doubles, while Louam Boivin and Leonel Gatti earned a 6-3 win in the second spot. Gautam Balakrishnan and Kevin Lu edged their counterparts 6-4 in third doubles.
Giacomo Moreira had the most commanding singles win for LC State with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the fourth spot. Boivin also won in straight sets, doing so 7-6(4), 6-0 in No. 3 singles.
Rollin took the No. 2 match 5-7, 7-5, 10-8. Both Juan Pablo Naranjo and Lu played three full sets. Naranjo defeated his opponent 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in the No. 5 match and Lu won No. 6 singles 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
