LEWISTON, ID – No. 21 LC State Baseball wrapped up the series sweep of Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday with a 12-0 victory in eight innings. The shutout was the third for the Warriors on the weekend and the third that ended via the run-rule. LC State pitching recorded the 27th one-hitter in program history and just the second where the lone hit came from the leadoff batter.
The Warriors outscored TAMUT 43-2 across the four games and outhit the Eagles 43-12. As a team, LC State hit .352 and held its opponent to .119.
The sweep moves the LC State record to 6-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Warriors sent all nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the first and put five runs on the board. TAMUT opened the inning with two hit batters and Bryce Johnson singled to bring in the first run. A double by Jackson Reed plated two more before an RBI groundout by Kooper Jones. Anthony Karagiannopoulos capped the frame with a solo shot into the left field bleachers.
Kason O’Neil struck out a pair in a 1-2-3 top of the third and LC State added a run on hits by Karagiannopoulos and Cade Westerlund. Mason Goodson made his season debut with a three-up, three-down top of the fourth and fifth as LC State pitching retired 13 straight.
Reed, Jones and Westerlund walked to load the bases in the bottom of the fifth and the lead grew to 7-0 after a sacrifice fly off the bat of Payton Smith. Westerlund hit his first home run in a Warrior uniform after a base hit by Jones to push the margin to 9-0 through seven.
Tyler Logan came out of the bullpen and fanned two in the eighth inning and the Warriors ended the game in the bottom of the frame.
A two-out rally started after an error put Bo Stinson on base. Reed singled before Jones blasted a three-run walk-off home run to end the game early.

Reed, Jones, Karagiannopoulos and Westerlund each had two hits. Jones drove in four and Westerlund knocked in three. Reed scored three runs.
Goodson earned his first win as a Warrior after going four innings in relief. O’Neil struck out five in his three innings and gave up the lone hit, Goodson fanned three and Logan struck out two in his inning.
