LC State to Host Women’s History Month Presentations in March

LEWISTON, ID — Lewis-Clark State College will host a series of presentations in March to mark Women’s History Month, with this year’s events focusing on America’s 250th birthday and the role women have played in shaping the nation.

The series, themed “Rebels with a Cause,” will run March 3-12 and will explore women’s contributions throughout history, with an emphasis on the American Revolution.

Courtney Kramer, a historical consultant and former director of Beautiful Downtown Lewiston, will open the series with a presentation titled “Guardians of Memory: Women and the Birth of Historic Preservation” at noon on Tuesday, March 3.

Haileyann Johnson, a senior history major at LC State, will present “The American Revolution, the Schuyler Sisters, and Women’s Roles: Why the Ladies of Hamilton the Musical are the Best” at noon on Wednesday, March 4. Johnson also serves as a judge for the 2026 regional History Day competition.

On Tuesday, March 10, LC State Professor of History and Humanities Division Chair Amanda Van Lanen will discuss “Liberty Tea and Independence Cake: Recipes for Rebellion and a New Republic” at noon.

The series will conclude with a keynote address by Idaho State Historian HannaLore Hein at noon on Thursday, March 12. Hein’s presentation is titled “American Women: 250 Years of Expanding Influence and Community Building”.

All events will take place in Merriwether Lewis Hall, Room 100, on the LC State campus. The presentations are free and open to the public.
