MOSCOW, ID— Volunteers are being sought for the 59th Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, set for April 22-25 on the University of Idaho campus in Moscow.
According to festival organizers, all U of I students, employees and community members age 18 and older with an interest in music and the arts are invited to participate. Volunteers will receive one free concert ticket for every four hours of service, and no prior experience is required.
Roy Derrick, who is entering his third year as a volunteer, said the event depends heavily on community support.
“A good reason to be involved is that it makes you feel better about yourself,” Derrick said. “Many of these types of events cannot succeed without the volunteers.”
Available roles include pre-festival office volunteer, performance site volunteer, information desk attendant, workshop presentation assistant and drive crew, among others.
Those interested can fill out an online interest form at go.uidaho.edu/jazz-volunteers. The form closes Sunday, March 15.
