LEWISTON, ID – A Clarkston man has been charged in Nez Perce County with lewd conduct with a child under sixteen, a felony.
According to court records, 48-year-old Matthew K. Hosking was arrested on Wednesday in Lewiston.
Court documents allege that in the spring of 2013, Hosking engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a female child who was approximately 5 or 6 years old at the time.
The alleged victim reported the accusations to law enforcement on December 11, 2025, according to the investigative report.
The affidavit states that Hosking denied the allegations when interviewed by detectives and said the accusations were fabricated.
Hosking made his initial appearance in Nez Perce County Court on Thursday afternoon. Court documents show prosecutors recommended bail be set at $1 million, citing the seriousness of the charge, Hosking’s previous law enforcement experience, and that he has a passport and was reportedly scheduled to travel to Mexico. The filing states prosecutors believe he presents a risk to the alleged victim and the community. Judge Karin Seubert set bond at $500,000.
The affidavit further states that during the investigation, additional individuals came forward with allegations of sexual abuse. Documents filed by prosecutors on Thursday morning say eight alleged victims have come forward alleging sexual abuse by Hosking. As of Thursday afternoon, only one count has been formally charged in this case.
Lewd conduct with a child under sixteen is punishable in Idaho by up to life imprisonment and a fine of up to $50,000.
