VALLEY COUNTY, ID — Two deputies with the Valley County Sheriff’s Office were injured Thursday morning after a semi-truck struck their patrol vehicle northeast of Cascade.
According to a February 19 press release, deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:51 a.m. to a report of a tree blocking the southbound lane of a roadway in the area.
Deputies arrived around 8:12 a.m. and positioned their patrol vehicle to block southbound traffic while Valley County Road Department crews worked to remove the tree.
While the patrol vehicle was stationary and blocking traffic, a semi-truck struck it from behind, pushing the patrol unit into a snowbank.
Both deputies were able to exit through the passenger side of the vehicle. They sustained minor injuries and were transported to Cascade Medical Center for evaluation.
The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
